Old House / New Project

Mt Adams, addition, renovation, historic

February 25, 2017

This is an 1865 house in the Mt. Adams neighborhood of Cincinnati. Basically unoccupied for the past few years, it needs some work. Rather than tearing it down and starting over with a brand new house, the owner wants to fix it up. The plan at this point is to take off two existing additions on the back (they're very old, but aren't part of the original house and are in bad shape), add a 2-story addition in their place, and renovate the original house. That way the house doesn't really change at the street (it's got character and it's been there for over 150 years, after all - it's part of the fabric of the neighborhood). I totally agree with her approach and am excited to design an addition that complements the original house.
